(UPDATE) PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed several laws declaring special working and nonworking Philippine holidays, Malacañang said Saturday.

​Republic Act (RA) 12248 declared June 15 of every year a special nonworking holiday in General Santos City to commemorate its charter anniversary.

​Meanwhile, special working holidays were declared in two cities, namely the Island Garden City of Samal, Davao del Norte, which will mark the city’s foundation day on March 7 each year (RA 12246); and San Juan City, which will mark Aug. 30 annually as the observance of the Battle of Pinaglabanan (RA 12250).

​RA 12247 designated Sept. 18 of every year as a special working day in Bansalan, Davao del Sur, to celebrate its foundation anniversary.

​RA 12249 declared June 24 of each year as a special working day in Balayan, Batangas, on the occasion of the “Parada ng Lechon.”

​Finally, RA 12251 proclaimed Sept. 21 of each year as a special working day in San Mateo, Rizal, on account of its foundation anniversary, or the Araw ng Bayan ng San Mateo.

​Areas with special working holidays may be converted into special nonworking holidays through proclamations issued by the President.

​The new laws, signed by the President on Aug. 29, shall take effect 15 days after their publication in the Official Gazette or in a newspaper of general circulation.

​The President also signed into law six measures creating additional court branches across the country.

​Signed on Aug. 29, copies of the laws released by Malacañang on Saturday mandate the establishment of six new regional and two new metropolitan trial courts in Cebu, Cagayan Valley and the Davao Region.

​RA 12029, RA 12242 and RA 12243 mandate the creation of Regional Trial Courts (RTCs) in Moalboal town, Cebu province; Alicia town, Isabela province; and Mati City, Davao Oriental, respectively.

​RA 12244 will establish two Metropolitan Trial Courts (MTCs) in Tagum City, Davao del Norte, while RA 12245 provides for the creation of two RTCs in Ilagan City and Tumauini town, Isabela province., This news data comes from:http://polxe.yamato-syokunin.com

​The new laws provided that the Supreme Court shall assign the branch numbers for the newly created courts.

Laws signed on holidays, court branches

​The chief justice, in coordination with the secretary of the Department of Justice, shall immediately include the courts’ program for the operationalization of the additional RTC and MTC branches.

​The Supreme Court shall also issue the necessary rules and regulations for the effective implementation of the laws.

​The laws mandate that funds for judges, court personnel, prosecutors and public attorneys — including salaries, benefits, court operations and facilities — be included in the annual General Appropriations Act.
